Revell Airbus A380 'Virgin Atlantic' finished.....

Well it’s took nearly two months but finally I’ve finished this superb model. Firstly a BIG thank you to all at Hannants for their help in finding the closest match for the red & grey, also for providing the Brasildecals, which were also superb.

Well she certainly lives upto her name ‘BIG MOMMA’ here is the A380 next to my B1-b lancer which is also in 1/144.

Well thanks for looking, any comments are always welcomed.

Scott.

Awesome work! Hopefully I’ll get a chance to see the real one coming in to JFK airport here in New York! (it’s going to be some sight watching this monster fly over the Belt Parkway!)

Very nice Scott. Well done [tup]

Regards, Rick

A very nice, clean build! The decaling is outstanding. Good work[tup]

Nice job Scotty,

Great build and paint work, just one question did you paint the wings the fuselage colour? I notice on the the real thing (airliners in general) the wings are usually painted the manufacturer’s grey (Airbus or Boeing), was this over looked or couldn’t you be bothered to do the wings a different colour. Perhaps the Brasil instructions were not specific enough?

Anyway she turned out a beaut mate!

Thanks for all your comments.

As this is still a flight of fancy, nobody knows what the real A380 will look like so I had a bit of artistic license & painted the wings the same colour, I think it makes the lines look more crisp.

Scott.

Beautiful job on the build.

Very nice job on the build, Scotty!

Nice job Scott! I’ll foreward ya some info on the A380 I just received. You’ll appreciate it[:D]
I just checked out your webpage. Nicely done[^]

Great looking A380! I suppose you are going to hang that beast or put it on a stand since I do not see any wheels on there.

Way to go! Looks fantastic.

Thanks for the info on the A380 Hippy-ed, Hopefully will see the real thing on Thursday 18th May as it will be at London Heathrow, Fingers crossed for the Virgin colours scheme, only 2hrs travelling will post photos if I see it. And yes, no wheels as it will be hanging from my ceiling in my model room as it’s too big to go anywhere else.

Scott.

Looks great and congrats on the build! Hard lines on the relegation though.[:(]

Scott, yer quite [#welcome] The pics were emailed to me by a friend & since I have difficulties posting things like that on the forums, I thought I’d email it to a few people I know who’re into Civilian stuff. Please feel free to pass it on[^] The cut-a-way & the office were most impressive

It’s still a little hard for me to believe that something THAT big will actually fly … but you did a great job, wish I could get my decals looking that “factory applied.”

mfsob, you’d be totally amazed by the email I sent Scott on this airframe… The engine nacelle is 10 feet in diameter!![:O] talk about a “Man-Eater!!”

The way I got my decals to set this well was all down to water & a little bit of ‘Micro sol’, first I sprayed the area in which the decal was to be applied with water this was done by a spray bottle with a fine mist, then apply decal & Q-tip as usual when happy with placement apply plenty of SOL.

Scott.

Great looking 380. Scotty!

Can you tell me which red colour did u use? I plan to build 340 and 380 in VA colours in the near future and any help would be welcome. Did you use Xtracoor’s Virgin Grey overcoated with that perla finish they recommend?

Yes I did use the xtracolor Virgin Grey with mica finish & the red was also by xtracolor (X361 Qantas red) this was recommended by Hannants as the closest match without trying to mix it, I think I couldn’t get any closer in a million years. If your going to build in VA colours I can recommend the decals by brasildecals [bow](747 - Birthday Girl is really nice) also from Hannants.

Any other questions don’t hesitate to email me.

Scott.

Beautiful work on the big airliner. I have a hard time imagining 500 to 600 people on one airplane. That is going to be a big bottle neck with servicing, passenger processing, baggage processing, etc.

so - more importantly - how’s Albion doing?
