Hello All, I have been a building maniac as of late, I built the “new” Revell 1966 Suburban. The only things I did that were not kit instructions were to dlete the passenger mirror, shorten and remount the drivers side mirror higher, and wire the engine. The colors are gloss white and Model Master “British Green Metallic” by Model Master. I have since added a wash to the grille, not seen here. The kit went together like a Tamiya kit. Very nice Kit. I’d like to do a 4x4 version sometime soon.
funny you should mention the 4x4 version. I’m doing it like it would be in 1965. It fits pretty nice on the GMC Snow plow frame, and I found old style 4X4 steel wheels at Scenes Unlimited. Mine is like a new vehicle on a car hauler
I’ve been pretty slow latley on the builds I’ll get some pics soon and post, hopefully next week
Thanks guys! I plan to do one in a “U.S. Forest Service” livery, complete with a shovel and axe on the side. Is the Plow truck a good donor for the chassis, size-wise?
Thank You Lee, I recently got some items from scenes unlimited for my Bronco Project, (coming soon!) they make very nice stuff and ship very quickly. As an aside, I too stand (er, sit) with Israel. The only true bastion of freedom in the middle east.
Rudy, I’ll make it a point to do a couple of pics with my suburban sittring on the plow truck frame tomorrow. I’m still going with the dual exhaust and I put a big block chevy motor in it [:)]
I just saw this kit this past weekend and was intrigued by it. I am glad to see yours “in the plastic”. I think you did a great job. Looks like a fun kit.
Nice one, Rudy! I’m attracted to the kit as well, having owned a “real” one. I’m accumulating parts for a Pro Touring version. I can’t help but think that Revell kinda missed the boat on the kit by not offering some options like 4x4 or custom parts.
