The Revell kit is rather clunky and “click” together style, but you can glue them and clean up seam joins still. I sued a photo frame for the back drop with some pumice stone painted up as asteroids and air brushed in the back ground.
Grant, that is an effect that I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I have a bunch of the old Hamilton Collection Star Wars Ships plates, and my idea is to reproduce each with a model. Aspirational, but now, maybe not so much.
The plates should work, it’s just how you attach the model…maybe clear acrylic rod that comes from behind the plate and bends around?
For a clunky kit, it sure works up into a nice model! I have it in my stash, so I’m sure glad to see how nice yours turned out. What did you use for color and weather reference material, if I might ask?
Super cool background idea, too. With shelf space at a premium I’m always looking for creative ways to wall-mount models, and that is a great one.
I made it up, I just use what I think looks right, I used a light grey and I think Russet for the red markings. I used AK 3rd Gen Chocolate for chipping with a piece of sponge and some oil paint for the streaks. It’s sci-fi so go too town and have fun, it can’t be wrong
That must look awesome hanging on the wall or placed on a table. Fantastic choice of a setting and great work on the painting and weathering!
That is a terrific Star Wars display.Your weathering on the ARC-170 looks so good. Fantastic builds & presentation.
