Hi Modelers,
as Iike to share my planes with you (love the nice words) here are some pics of my most difficult build til now. I have finished it some days ago.
Its the Revell dayfighter Kit of the BF 110 G2-R3. Cause the nacelles aren´t pretty good I also bought the conversion kit from Cutting edge. And I used the beautifully detailed Aires Cockpit. I cut out the ailerons (but I believe glued it back wrong, both dropped down), I cut out the tailplane rudders also. The two 20mm cannons are made from hypodermic needles, I added breaklines, opened up the canopy, scratched a new bottom antenna made from copper wire and weathered it mostly with pastels, as I don´t like oilcolours running in every line.
So here are the pics incl. some from the workbench to show a bit of the difficulties I had.
Here is the CE set:
And thats what I had to cut out:
The finished cockpit side walls:
Cockpitdetail:
A lot of filler was necessary, although the CE parts were pretty good:
Tailplane after surgery:
I drilled out the exhausts:
The canopy changed to be shown opened
The parts for the bottom antenna (copper wire):
Antenna glued and painted:
The MG (Aires): Beautiful, isn`t it?
And here some pics of the finished plane. I forgot the pitot tube, but will add it today.
The exhausts stains were airbrushed.
The Revell kit is very good oob, but lacks some detail in the cockpit. The decals are shi…, as they are too thick and I had to use loads of Mr Mark Softer. There is still a bit of silvering. I had to make the svastikas invisible (only on the photos), because it isn´t allowed to show them in Germany.
Hope you like my 7th model. Though it is far away from being perfect it looks pretty nice I think. And I have learned a lot while glueing it together.
Gerald
