I hope this is the correct forum to bring up this question. I’m beginning to build the 1/72 Revell U-Boat VII-C. I chose to have the bow doors open and would like to show the heads of the torpedoes in their respective tubes. The question is, are there any 1/72 scal torpedoes out there or is this a scratch build venture? As of now, I’m beginning to think scratch is the way using wooden dowels. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated [Y]

Thank you both for the info. I’ll probably do some scratch building with this. I’m only going to need about 5mm of the heads so no sense in spending $$ on full size torps.

Do you have any 1/72 Bombers? The one type of Bomb Could be used. You know the ones that are iron!
Never gave that any thought. I already turned down 2 pieces of 1/4" dowel in the shape of the torp heads. Even painstakingly scratchbuild some “nipples” ( for lack of a better term) to put on the heads of the torpedoes and added some thin styrene for the little propellors on the tips. Turned out well.

See, that’s cool. Remember the Bombs for a future project though. I always keep a box of aircraft armaments around for just that reason. Plus old airplanes have supplied parts to repair my Treib-Fluegel which fell and lost it’s little old fashioned landing gear wheels! They luckily resembled wheels from an old Bi-Plane

It would be “NIPPLE”, In which a hole is drilled and a bearing mounted for the little prop to merrily spin for it’s alloted time, connected to the arming mechanism. It either hits, explodes close on board or misses completely. Believe it or not a lot of Bombs worked this way too.
