Hello everyone,
Here is a Spit that I just finished for the Spitfire GB. I used Tamiya paints, no aftermarket parts. One of the easiest and best fitting models I have ever made.

Thanks,
Rob

Nice looking Spitfire.
Nicely done Sir! The weathering is awesome and the office detail is great
i was eye balling this kit at the LHS and looks like im going to pick it up now. haha
whats the tam color codes you used?
thanks!
Randy, I am also working on a Spit with the same colors for the GB. The Tamiya colors are XF-81, XF-82, and XF-83.
That Revell kit looks great. It sure is trumping my Hasegawa…their decals are horrible.
Thanks, guys!
Jdice: the decals on this one were quite good and with lots of solvaset, conformed extremely well over the raised and irregular details on the model, especially the rondelles on the wings. I read somewhere in the forums that this Revell spit is a reboxed Hasegawa kit?
Rob
Wonderful job!!! this looks to be a Revell Germany re-pop of the original Monogram kit, which is delightful in detail, and you have captured it nicely.[:D[
I have the exact same kit but as for the interior I used Model Master RAF interior color which closely resembles Russian interior Blue Green. And I did get the exact same Tamiya colors for the exterior though I haven’t finished mine yet. BTW the red tape squares on the wing are supposed to be covering the yellow band not only part of the yellow band.
The Revell of Germany kit is a repop of the Hasegawa kit.
hey Mikeym:
the mouldings on my kit had the opening for the gun barrels way high on the upper surface of the wing instead of the centre of the leading edge. I wanted the yellow to be in the centre of the leading edge, but had to raise the red patches to cover the openings for the barrels. I was not so energetic to fill these areas!
Rob
thanks for the info! i been using MM enamels because they didn’t have the higher XF numbers at the LHS and they didn’t have raf in MM acrylics so i lost.
i honestly should have searched the codes instead of asking.
thanks again!
That’s interesting that the Revell is the Hase kit. After examining the cockpit detail it does look identical to the one I am working on. The build was spectacular. I’ve said in the GB that I feel like this was my best construction job ever. I’m a little clumsy and fat fingered, so I usually have some flaws somewhere, but not this one. The decals were way too fragile though. I destroyed the fuse band blotching water off of it pre-micro sol, and did the same with one of the under wing insignia…the band can be painted easily enough…but now I have one insignia and am miffed as to what to do. My LHS guy was commenting about the quality of the Airfix decals in the 109 kit I bought at the same time compared to the Hasegawa decals. I liked the box cover though so wanted to go with it…lesson learned. I’m grabbing that Revell Spit for sure. The red pops on that plane. Awesome. Anyway, I don’t mean to hijack.
Nice job. Looks really good.
Though I wonder how the Spitfire would have performed if the Merlin Engine was installed upside down like the Jumo engine on the BF-109 ?
Nice one I am just finishing a spitfire MK 11 myself
yours looks great
