Hello fellow glue sniffers,
I’m here with more plastic to mash. I picked up this kit at a recent model swap meet, figuring it’d be a fun change of pace. I didn’t plan on starting it until after my wicked of Omars was further along, but after fighting with the complexity of the HB and Hasegawa Hornets, I cracked this one open to keep the fun flowing.
I decided to start with the wings.
Then I moved to the forward fuselage. There must be different boxings of this kit because the fuselage and nose are molded separately. I didn’t get a photo of them separated, but the instructions call for having the assembled nose attached to the assemble main fuselage. I attached the nose halves to their corresponding fuselage halves to help with the seam. Things went together very well. (Sorry, no photos.) After that, I decided to do something about the nose guns.
I didn’t want to break the barrels or deal with them during painting. So I cut off the barrels and drilled out the gun body to receive them later.
I used some CA to attach the gun bodies to the fuselage halves…
And it all allows me to slide the barrel into the body from the outside.
More than anything, this was a proof of concept for an idea I want to use on some old Revellogram 1/48 WWII bombers I have in the stash.
