Revell 1/48 Mig-25

Looking in the window of an (unfortunately closed) lhs yesterday, I saw a Revell kit of a 1/48 scale recon Mig-25. I think it said Mig-25 Rp or someting on the box. Knowing that Revell (Germany) like to rebox all sorts of kits, my suspicion is that this is the old Lindbergh kit. That one I built when I was about 13, and even then I was disappointed at the amount of detail (never mind the shapes!). On the odd chance that this is a new kit however, it would be something of a bargain at 22 euro’s. Anybody got any positive info?

I built a Revell MiG-25 years and years ago…so there definitely was a Revell kit in 1/48.
I wasn’t aware Lindberg even made one!

As I recall, it was your standard Revell fare for the times. I liked it when I was thirteen! I think I still have it, packed up back in the States.

Thanks J-hulk. I’ll have a closer look at the kit later. If it is an original Revell kit it might be decent enough. If it’s up to 1980’s Monogram standards I’m happy.[:D]

I’m also eagerly awaiting this kit to help fill out my collection of historic aircraft.
I’ve seen a 1/72 Mig-25 kit around. Does anybody know how big a 1/72 & a 1/48
model of a Mig 25 would be?

The Lindberg one I built in my teens was BIG. According to my references, length of the real thing should be 23.8 metres and span 14 metres. In 1/48 that’s 49.5 x 29.2 cm. About the size of an Aardvark; like I said, it’s big.[:O]

A little update here. Just came back from the store where I had a look at the small pics on the side of the box. Seems the think is about 2cm short and about right in span. The undercarriage, tires and the general detailing looked like nothing special. I decided to leave the thing alone and wait for Tamiyagawa to come up with a good kit sometime. Of course, I left the shop with another kit, an Ekranoplan[:0]. I know, I know…[:D]

Thanks Filbert. That’s the second time you’ve answered one of my questions.
Why do research when you can get instant answers from your learned colleagues? You’re a veritable font of information.

My pleasure Richard, but you give me too much credit. Just had to reach over and open up a book[:)].

Boy, that answer really makes me look lazy.

These boxes, we seem to spend way too much time sitting in front of, have made ALL of us a little lazier I’m afraid.
I still read my books, though. I love to read. Couldn’t survive without books or magazines!!
