Revell 1/48 Eurofighter

Just got myself one of these as I read a lot of good previews, but sadly, initial good feelings have turned to disappointment following a dry fit.

Every area seems to be a problem, the underwing fit is awful, the optional open airbrake will take a fair bit of work if I want it closed and the main wheelbays require some boxing in. But at least these are minor problems.

The major problem area is the intakes, which consist of a lot of parts to make an inch long piece of trunkng with a blank plate at the end and a very nasty seam. I’m thinking of making covers for this area, but photos show them being up inside the trunking slightly, any advice on how to tackle making these?

As the build progresses I’ll try and update with pictures, but I’ve got an injured wrist so it could be a long one!

Yikes!

I’m sorry to hear that, I’ve got one coming via mail order myself. I don’t suppose you picked up a re-box of Italeri kit? I think the number of weapons included in the kit would be the only way to know at first glance. On the plus side, its one of a few modern fighters models you can get for under $20. [tup] Like I said I’ll be sharing your pain in a couple of days.

Good luck,

bw

I’m in the same boat as bwog! I have one coming also. I made sure I purchased the new Revell ROG and not the reboxed Italeri. The new Revell has a lot of good reviews. The new Revell kit # is 4568. Dean

Yep, definitely the new one. After looking at it again, I think I may have been a bit harsh as hopefully when it’s proper construction and not a dry fit I might be able to solve most of the fit problems.

Started the cockpit and trunking today, cockpits good but the seats a bit of a tight fit. Definitely going to have to make covers for the intakes though, but looking at www.eurofighter.com it doesn’t look that bad as they’re placed at a natural break in the moulded parts.

Main problem is deciding which scheme to make! 7 options over 5 nationalities, but mostly the same colour schemes. And what weapon load to put on, there’s so many choices!
