This is a Revell A-6E Indruder on auction…
Just another fine example of a rediculous evilbay bid war over a model. See bid history.

It started off at 17 bucks and now at 61. I know he said that kit wasn’t released but what would something similer go for new? definally not 60 dollars. I see that alot, From time to time I do find deal on ebay.
What struck me about it is that I saw one bidder bidding on two other 1/48 A-6’s last week. I would like to get an A-6E for my stash but not at what they are going for on Ebay. What really irks me are these people who bid on several kits and drive up the price like the dummy I mentioned above.
Actually the kit was first released in the 80’s for the movie Flight of the Intruder. The hat was a promo for the movie.
I will get a kick to see the highest bidder win his high price 1/48 A-6E model only to have Revell re-release the kit a few days later. That would be my luck if I were to get into these bids.
I’m waiting for the Trumpeter 1/32 A-6 kit to come out but right now, I found the 1/35th Hind on sale for $79 which is the lowest I’ve seen that kit go for and I’m leaning towards purchasing it this week.
In work- Hobby craft 1/32 F-105D for the Mig Group build.
Scott
i bid (bet ) this guy is a collector so even if they re-release it as an original it is worth more [to a collector]
of course this [#offtopic] has been brought up b-4 and their type of bidding ruins things for the modelers
I just bought the Airfix 1/72 super Connie from Squadron. Cost me $ 10 less than the LHS. I also paid $ 17 for the Ozmod EC-121 kit. Total about $ 52.
In the last week 2 Heller EC-121s went on eBay for about $ 50 or so each. Those buyers got the decals as well.
Now that is alright with me cuz I’m not committed to a particular a/c just yet and am leaning towards the a/c at Mclelland air museum, but…
Don’t trash eBay. Just learn how to use it. I’ve said enough before…use Bidslammer, stick to your budget, read carefully.
I can’t find another A-6 online. I’m going over to the LHC tomorrow and I’ll report back, but I think they only have the 1/72 Italeri.

on the bench:
Heller C-54 for the SAC GB 75%
Heller Gragone Rapide 75%
Frog F7 50%
Bondoman. No disrespect but, I don’t think they are trashing ebay so much as some bidders who DO get out of hand at times.
I do agree with you that one needs to learn how to use ebay, set your limits, watch the stores AND watch the “buy it now” section.
I, too, used to get really frustrated at the prices some of these kits were going for. I started watching the “buy it now” section a little closer and I just recently made, what I feel, was a good purchase.
I have been looking for a Monogram 1/48 T-28 and everytime I found one on ebay they would go for $20.00 to $25.00 plus shipping. I was willing to go up to the low end of this range with shipping included. I feel that this is a reasonable price. One day, while watching a couple of auctions, I decided to try another search under buy it now. Lo and behold there it was, a Monogram kit from an estate sale. $11.99 plus $5.25 shipping to my front door. It now resides on my shelf waiting for the Lone Star wheel well, flap and exhaust sets.
By the way, the 2 auctions I was watching, were won by the same bidder also. I don’t know if he is hoarding them or if he honestly needs a couple of kits, such as I. I’m still looking for one more. I may have that in a trade I’m working on.
Great modeling guys!!
Less than an hour before the auction ends and the bid is now at $72.00, it’s going to be interesting in the last ten mins. This is going to get utterly rediculous!
Edit: Winning bid 72.00. JEEEEEZZZZEEEEEE!
Cheeeeezzzz is right. I got 3 A-6E’s off ebay awhile back for under $25 not counting shipping. I always limit myself to how much I am going to allow for a kit and if the bids get over my allowence, to heck with it.
Cheers,

I think I’ve only won ONE auction by being the high bidder. Everything else was Buy it Now. Much better, IMO.
Actually that was a later release, the kit was first released in the 70’s
John you are 100% correct but that particular kit was reboxed and released in the 80’s for the movie Flight of the Intruder. This is what I really meant.
My appoligies for the mistake.
Not a problem
Funny, this months FSM Magazine has Trumpeter releasing a 1/32 A6-A and an A6-E sometime soon.
Hey guys, let’s take it easy on the winner ok? I bet he’s just an average Joe Citizen.
Except he REALLY wanted that hat… lol

Nexxus, you were looking in the 1/32 scale section. But that would be a scream if it was 1/48th!
And, “Mr. Valentine has set the price” which my friends, is the new truth. I can’t second guess what that hat, in that box, with that model is worth. There are some 1/72 kits out there at about $ 20.00. The transaction numbers of those bidders were low, but you never know…
Always use a bid site. I use BidSlammer. It’s more than free if you figure what it saves you. Like the tax acct. This bid was an obvious botch, and a “slammed” bidder wouldn’t have won, or wanted to, but usually you can/ will.
Trumpeter should make an EA-6B in 1/32. I’d sell the dogs for that! Esp. if it came with a few deck crew.
eBay is a good resource though. For sellers more than buyers. BTW a good stock.
Use PayPal the insurance is really great.
Don’t buy anything for more than $ 500.
Chinese / Asian, pirated/ bootleg/ counterfeit is a major percentage. A too good to be true; is.
The best info is on…eBay forum
