Returning to the hobby after 30 years…

Hello everyone! Joining the fun here so that I can comment and show some love to the fantastic work I’ve been seeing.
I will also share some projects of my own, as I recently returned to the modeling hobby after a few decades away.
A few projects I’ve completed recently:

  • A restoration and reimagining of two 1/700 waterline aircraft carriers (Enterprise CV-6 / HMS Ark Royal RO9) built 30 years ago
  • Restoring and reimagining two 1/72 scale jets built originally when I was a teenager
  • 1/350 scale RM Pola (Hobbyboss): my first build after hiatus
  • 1/350 scale Tamiya “Tsesarevich” (predreadnought battleship): an experiment in weathering techniques
  • A small NX-01 Enterprise

These are the projects I have so far, so please let me know if any pique your interest and you would like to see pics.

I am here for sharing but also learning. I will never be a “master modeler”, but I find a lot of what people on here are capable of creating to be truly stunning and awe-inspiring. Can’t wait to learn some new techniques and potentially request ideas when a kit perplexes me.

Welcome to the forum! Looks like ships are a focus for you. Where do you hail from?

Indeed, I really like ships (battleships in particular), but they can be long and challenging builds. But I have a lot of aircraft and armor projects that await as well.

I am from Kansas, so being so interested in ships is somewhat unusual!

Welcome to the forums. Looking forward to seeing your work.

Remember that James Tiberius Kirk was from Iowa but captained a famous starship…

Greetings. I decided to join up here after 50 years away from modeling. This is a great place to learn and see what others are up to. Welcome back to modeling.
