I’m wondering if anyone makes a decent size of kiTs of wrecker tow trucks but NOT modern style, just the older curvy cab-forward styles From1940s 50s. Any thoughts or suggestions?
I’ve seen some neat conversion projects with pieces like Revell’s 1950 Ford pickup…but never a dedicated full kit, that I can recall.
Hello!
There is a company called A.I.T.M. that makes and sells resin parts that allow you to build your own truck, and they have many designs from the 40s and 50s:

Like this baby:

Be warned - a model like that takes a lot of money and skill too - you have to do a lot of research and build many parts on your own.
I hope it helps you - have a nice day

The Wrecker , From Pick - Ups to Pro .
The little cab forward or cab over can be built using model parts available in resin .They will even tell you what Donor Kit to use .
Hi,
Looking through eBay I’ve come across a couple models of tow trucks based off trucks from the 30’s, 40s’ or 50’s but they all appear to be pickup truck style vehicles and not “cab-forward” style trucks. These included;
- a 1/25th scale AMT 1934 Ford truck
- a 1/24th scale Testors Ford F-1 with steel body
- a 1/25th scale Lindberg 1934 Ford truck
- a 1/24th scale Emhar Bedford 5-ton truck
Additionally I also saw a 1/25th scale resin 1936/37 Studebaker Cab Over nose and cabin tub pieces.
I guess you could maybe buy that nose and one of the 1/25th 1934 Fords and try and graft them together.

Thanks for your help. I just got a resin cab and a weird inspiration to build a retro railroad maintenance truck that has a cab at each end. It’ll be very kit-bashed and based on speculation and what looks cool.
The only problem is that the resin cab is warped and I need to straighten it w/o ruining it. Hot water, hair dryer, putty??
