Now wait a minute I don’t want anyone to think I’m a “Pro” (Not that you are calling me one). But I tell you what. I bought a Pressure Pot from Harbor Frieght for US $50. Used a few fittings along with an Air Caddy that I fill up from our air compressor at the barn and I have instant pressure casting. It works great. I have even used it on molds that were not put under pressure when I made them and even they did well.
My point is if you like casting it won’t take up a lot of money (compared to buy 2 or 3 models) to get your self set up for pressure casting. I was thinking of finally getting an account for pictures and showing how I do it.
Something I just learned recently with pressure casting. If the part you are casting is hollow, fill it with something before you cast it. I’m thinking white glue next time. It was the worst mold I EVER made (I figure all told I might have made 30 to 40 molds, note I said made not used [:D]).
That wasn’t a jab directed your way. But I’ll tell Ya what- if you share a tutorial on pressure casting “on the cheap” you’ve just differentiated yourself from many who would call themselves a ‘pro’ and not share the black magic! I myself understand the concept and know folks who use it regularly but have yet to see a tutorial with ‘readily available’ components that I felt comfortable replicating so I’d look forward to it![dinner]
No I didn’t take it as a jab at all. I’ll see what I can do this weekend. We are supposed to be getting a Track Loader Skid Stear and well I never outgrew Tonka toys I just moved up to the real thing.[:D]
My father who is actually buying the thing is on call so I get more play time with it. I may even knock off early from hunting.
