Repsol Honda NSR500 '99

Getting back into scale modelling, I’ve opened the storage locker in the atic where I’d placed all uncompleted models and decided upon attempting the following:-

Tamiya 14077; Repsol Honda NSR500 '99 as the Spanish or Catalunya GP version of the Emerson GP '00 bike, with the Studio 27 decal kit ST27-DC349 as riden by Alex Barros.

Yet when studying the instructions it seems that the bracket arrangement attaching the brembo brake calipers to the ‘upside down’ front forks is different to the original Repsol Honda '99 model. Do any forum members know of any transkits available which correct this…?

Managed to find a picture of the Emerson decals as applied to the '99 Honda (by Tamiya) on Studio 27’s own website. It seems to have kept the original front brake caliper arrangement from the Repsol Honda, which seems a deviation to the instruction illustration supplied with the decal kit.

Do any forum members have access to a Motocourse or similar with a picture of the actual Emerson bike as used by Barros…?

Thanks

Bryan

Bryan:

I think S27 offered the decal for the NSR500 2000 version, in then didn’t have a 2000 version of Tamiya, however if you use the 14082 (Nastro Azurro) kit you will get the front forks with the right calipers and brackets that support them. If you still want to use a 99 version should modify the position of the calipers but also the calipers are different (smaller) than the 2000 version. Here a link to pictures of the bike correctly built. http://www.modelersite.com/Abr2001/English/HondaNSR_Eng.htm

Mario,

Many thanks for the information regarding the Honda NSR 500 '99 and 2000 versions, very pleased that you posted prior to me applying any decals to a NSR '99 version.

Again, many thanks,

Bryan
