Sorry if this has already been answered. How does one “fix” silvering? My procedure is:

Look perfect right? It did not become visible until the flat coat but there is one decal that is silvered [:(!]. And of course, right on top. Is the something that can be done to get rid of it after all the coatings have been applied?
“Silvering” is caused by air under the decal, typically on a flat or otherwise textured surface. In your case, with three coats of Future, it shouldn’t have done it but obviously did. I’ve had it happen to, normally on small decals.
About the only way I know of to fix it, and I don’t know how well this will work since it’s already been overcoated, is to poke holes in the areas that are silvered using a straight pin.
Depending on what type of flat coat you used you MIGHT be able to use a Q-Tip moistened with Windex and get the coating off the decal. With an exposed decal some decal solvent MIGHT help remove some of the silvering after the bubbles are popped.
The universal way to fix those kinds of problems, at least for me, is to rip it off and put another one on.
The easiest repair to try is to gently poke the silvered area several times (number depends on the size of the silvered area) with a sharp sewing needle (just enough to pierce the decal) and hit the decal with some Micro Set. If that doesn’t work, move up to Micro Sol. If that doesn’t work, bring out the heavy artillary with SolvaSet.
You might get some “clouding” of the future in the area while applying the chemicals. However, once the decal silvering is removed, another coat of Future and flat coat should remove any clouding.
This has worked for me in the past and may work for you as well…
I’ve been known to carefuly brush paint the top color over the clear area of the decal where the silvering is and when dry, shoot on another coat of the clear top coat over that area.
I have used touch up painting myself on small areas, but be careful
Foster’s method has worked well for me in most cases but in some I’ve poked the decal and used a drop of Future instead of the MicroSol/Solvaset. Works every time.
