Hello everyone I’m new to the forum and I haven’t built a model kit since I was 15 years old and that was 30 years ago!!
Since I have an interest in World War I, I’ve decided to build some WWI models which brings me to the question of which kit, that is currently available, is the best Renault FT-17 Tank in AEF service? Something in the 1/48 to 1/35 scale.
Also, are there any model companies that send out catalogs? Does Squadron Signal still do that?
All the 1/35 scale FT-17 kits are all basically the same model by RPM. This site is dedicated to WW1 modeling. You may find it useful: http://www.landships.freeservers.com/
Squadron Mail Order still sends out a monthly flyer that is full color and like a mini catalog. I got my January 09 one in the mail yesterday. http://www.squadron.com/
Des Kit makes the best Ft-17 kits hands down, and they pretty much covered all the variants. RPM is injection copy of the earliest Des kit, therefore the upgrades for RPM would work on Des too.
Chassis of the Des kits are one piece. Takes 5 minute of inspection and cleaning and it will come out much better than the RPM stuff.
