Removing paint?

So I tried to hurry, and painted a couple pieces I shouldn’t have on the model I’m currently working on.

Anyone got any tips on how to remove paint from a piece? I’m using Testor’s enamel.

Hi,

If there’s no PE on a model, the easiest way to remove old paint is using oven-cleaner (The foamy kind that come in spray-cans). Simply spray on a coat of foam, leave it overnight in a well closed plastic bag (the fumes are rather toxic) After a night rinse your model under some tepid water, wher the paint doesn’t come off easy, use an old toothbrush. After this treatment your model will look a bit pale, but all the paint will be gone!!

If you DID use PE, you will have to glue this back on, 'cos the oven cleaner will disolve the CA glue as well…

Try Simple Green. Soak the model in it (not just spray it on) overnight. No dangerous fumes. Soft toothbrush in the morning and it should come off very easy. Might take more than one application if the paint is heavy.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. Stopped by K-Mart while out and about and am trying the Simple Green suggestion. Let’s see if it works!

I’ve never used Simple Green but I have used Castrol Super Clean and it takes the paint of pretty easily. Sometimes you might have to use water and an old toothbrush to remove what paint didn’t come off but it never messes with glue, but will melt any putty you might have used.
