I just thought that you should see what I have been up to. got a new camera, still working on not moving it as i focus. any how, these are three of my newer ship, all close to the finish line. one is a standard enterprise class. the second is a refit federation class, the third is the USS Minsk, NCC2525 a ascension class Dreadnaught. all in 1/1000 class. all upgrades from the kit are scratched. the 3rd engines are from mail order.
well, in fact it is not back lit. it is just paint. ite enterprise and federation class is just testors light blue, but on the inside of the dome, then simply snapped in place. then shot with a blurry camera. the ascension class , since the sensor dome is resin cast, is testors gold leaf, applied with a q-tip. then filmed with the same blurry camera.
Try putting something behind them other then the wall, I have the same problem with my camera sometimes, if the wall is heavily textured the camera will want to focus on that instead, that’s what it looks like happened here. If I’m having that problem in a shot, I usually throw a piece of paper or an 18% grey card in between the model and the wall. Also, throwing more light on the subject helps.
