Am I the only one that would pay extra for a kit that included good quality reference photos with it. I’d hate to think of how many hours I spend researching a project, looking for those elusive few photos that help with a project. But I must admit that I enjoy my research time for the most part.

Personally, I think that it’s a major responsibility of model manufacturers to “show us” why their bits of plastic in a kit are shaped the way they are…detail reference photos in the instructions or on the box are really a must…
Obviously, “Detail in Scale” type photos might be out of the question, but at least some photos should be presented.

I think the reference photos in the kit are a good idea if you are modeling that individual subject, but there are so many variations on the theme that I think most modelers would end up paying for something they would find to be of limited or no value to their particular build.
Speaking for myself, I enjoy the research that precedes each build.

If you are interested in Warsaw Pact kits, Panzershop includes a photo CD with some of their kits (VT-55, DANA etc.) The owner will also help with any questions you could have about these kits. I will be buying the VT-55 from a friend (he also owns the DANA) and I will be very happy to use the CD as reference material when I am building the kit. This may be OT, but wouldn’t it be nice to see Tamiya, DML, AFV Club etc. publish reference photos of the vehicles they measure? I would like to see which T-55 Tamiya used or which M-41 was used by AFV Club as the basis for their models. In addition to the actual vehicles, the manufacturers could show paint schemes, decal options and which countries used the vehicle. Wouldn’t that be helpful? Just a few thoughts…
I’d be happy if they included a sheet with just 4 - 6 pics of the vehicle.
