I have just started the Dragon Firefly Vc. I would really like to get my hands on some reference material. In my area all I have been able to find are general books on Shermans. The best I have been able to find is a book on Shermans in British service, and one on the Guards Armored. Neither has much in the way of good pictures. Can anyone suggest something? Thanks for the help. And Ausf, if you read this, sorry mate.[V]
Theres the Concord books on British tanks of WW2 parts 1 and 2 with photos of fireflys in them
and theres also a book called “Sherman Firefly by Mark Hayward” ISBN 0-9538777-2-8
its got loads of photos and line drawings in it and give you the history on the Firefly
then theres a Shiffier book about captured tanks with some good shots of captured Fireflys
“Tanks in Detail #6 Sherman and Firefly” by Terry J. Gander has a chapter dedicated to the Firefly. Some good pics.
“The Sherman in Canadian Service” by Steve Guthrie has some good ones too and should be fairly easy for you to get your hands on a copy.
I don’t know much about shermans but I see that shermanfreak have allready answered this so you are in good hands. But might I put your attention on the Suggestions and Feedback forum, we are couple of guys there who have started a topic called Book / reference forum ? We think it would be a good idea with a dedicated forum for this kind of discussions. Captian Caveman has allready been there but we would like more input. So Shermanfreak and buff why don’t you go there and give us your thoughts on this.
Sorry? THEY WON! GAME FLIPPIN SEVEN.
Buff,
Go to last weeks off topic forum. I confused the entire FSM family with some HABS-speak.
If your apology is for thr firefly build, I was toying with the idea myself, only I wass going to call it an ‘ON FIRE-fly’.[;)]
Ausf, I was referring to the Devils tanking. I know you’re a Habs fan, but I thought there might be a small space in your heart for the Devils, being the local team and all. As for the On-Firefly crack, so you’ve got a bigger gun on your side, and thicker armor, and better doctrine, and…I think I’d better quit while I’m behind.GHG
I found the thread in the OT forum. I’m sorry, I don’t usually check it, but I will from now on. You were right. There were some mightily confused people in there. I’m going to have to go in there to defend/introduce myself.
I hear tell that Hayward’s book on the ‘Firefly’ is as good as they come.
Could of bought one last Saturday for $50 with no sales tax or shipping!
Almost kicking myself for not buying it! Oh well!
Glenn
If you’re not kicking yourself Glenn … allow me to help … can’t come anywhere near that price here.

I hate EACH local hockey club even more than the other if that’s possible. I don’t know what I enjoy more, the sweep, the excrutiating seventh game loss or the perpetual not making the playoffs. The only local I don’t have to spit after uttering their name is probably the Isles just because I don’t have to suffer through games there as often.
I’m longing for St. Catherine right about now, tis the season and all…
Such anger Ausf! I guess I was spoiled growing up watching the Habs in the 70’s, though my soul has suffered in the 80’s and 90’s.
Caveman, 53Ryder, Shermanfreak, where would I find the Hayward book? Thanks.
Discount Models lists it as being available. I’ve never dealt with them before though. Maybe someone can give some input on them.
Here’s the link.
