Redoing my Mig 29A Fulcrum

Hello

I have a Soviet Mig29A Fulcrum with a Tamiya Light blue and medium blue camoflage.

It came with West German Decals. However I went on Ebay and bought some Soviet Decals. When I applied the Soviet Star decals they would just fall apart( Guess they weren’t any good.)

Now I’m thinking about redoing the Mig-29.

Can you tell me what the best way to sand down the model.

Should I just use a sanding stick or should I get a dremel. If you think the dremel is the best way to go

can you let me know of one that is fairly quiet , as I live in an apartment and I don’t want to disturb others.

Thank-you

Scott

Did you overcoat the decals with a flat base, future, etc? If not I would use something like Micro Set to remove them, wetsand the paint with a fine paper and just repaint.

Actually yes I did use Future (Several coats of Future).

Hand sand. No sanding stick no Dremel. Use fine sandpaper 400 or 600, wet-or-dry used wet. You might try some sanding sponges made by 3M that does come in 400 grit. It conforms to curved surfaces better than paper.

Ditto on the 3M sponges… they’re great! I buy them from our local auto paint store. The microfine and ultrafine are the best for modeling. They cut with scissors, can be washed clean, and when worn down a bit, give you an even finer surface finish. I like to use the worn ones for scuffing the gloss off larger parts prior to priming/painting for better adhesion.
