Recommended REVELL kits...

Hi all…
I need your opinions… What are the good recommended 1/48 & 1/32 kits of Revell?
Both jets and WW2 are fine. I know that their 1/48 Strike Eagle is excellent… anything else??
BTW, is the Revell’s 1/48 Helldiver still exists?
Many thanks…

Many of the good Revell kits are coming out of Revell-Germany. Most of the American made kits will have the Revell-Monogram seal on them since they merged several years ago. Their F-15E kits are some of the better ones on the market. The new 1/72 U-Boat is a Revell-Germany kit.

Old molds never die, they just get reissued. (altough I don’t know when)

The new 1/32 He-162 is very good, as are the Hasegawa and Dragon reissues the Revell has.

I would strongly recommend 3kits from Revell. F86D Sabre Dog, Ju-52, and Fi156 Storch. Ive built all three and was very impressed with the ease, fit, and detail of all three. I’m absolutely positive there are many more kits produced by Revell that are equally as good, but since I’ve only been building models for a short time, i just haven’t had time to put all of the available kits together. The 3 I’ve mentioned are can’t miss builds!!!

Cheers,
Dragonfly

It does still exist and was reissued at least once by Revell Germany (it was originally a ProModeler kit) but has not been reissued in the last several years. There was a problem with the clear parts that was progressively getting worse. I dunno if that was the cause of its disappearance or not, but that’s my hunch…

Fade to Black…

In 1/32 fI would recommend the Hawker Hunter. Haven’t built it myself but the builds I’ve seen were great. Also, the F-5E is pretty good (a Hasegawa clone it is rumoured). As a rule, if a kit’s 1/32 Revell and has raised panel lines, it’s old and usually not that good. In 1/48 (and now I do speak from experience [:)]), I could recommend the Catalina, He-111 and Ju-52 (and probably the He-217 too, but I haven’t looked into that box yet). These kits are recent moulds and feature excellent detail. Comprehensive decals too. If you want more elaborate instructions, go for a Pro Modeler kit, otherwise Revell (Germany) is great because of the decal choice.

Don’t you mean Do-217?

Of the Revell kits I’ve got in my stash, I’d recommend the Ju52/53 in 1/48th, the 1/48th Moskito, 1/48th He-111 and the 1/72nd He177 Greif. They’re all modern toolings, with excellent levels of detail OOB, and none of those nasty sink marks that are inherant in the older Revell or Monogram kits.

If you simply have to have a 1/48th A-10, Revell-Monogram is the only way to fly, but you’ll need to do some SERIOUS work to get it up to modern standards.

I might [:p], very obvious I don’t have that box, isn’t it? [:o)]

And it was on the Sinterklaas sale last year at Blokker, only € 12,99!!!
For a 1/48 Do-217 Revell/Promodeller!

cheap as chips![:)]

the Revell Me410 looks a good kit

Just pick out any good kit from Revell-Monogram or Revell-Germany and you will be satisfied.

spyro,
well first off [#welcome] to the forum,
as for your question, most of the Pro-Modeler kits are very good, as with the latest from Revellogram, here’s a list of both PM’s and regular in 1/48,
A-26B or C’s, AR-234C(Hasegawa’s), BF-110G’s, DO-217’s(DML/Dragon’s), F4U-5(Hasegawa’s), F-4E(Hasegawa’s), F-15E’s, F-84E or G’s, F-86D’s, FW-190D-11(DML/Dragon’s), HE-111, JU-52/3M, JU-87(Hasegawa’s), JU-88’s (DML/Dragon’s), ME-410’s, P-38F,G,H(Hasegawa’s), PBY-5 or -5A, SB2C-4, TA-154(DML/Dragon’s)
most of the newer Revellogram’s are sub-contracted from Revell-Germany who where selling most of the Japanese kits under their label and then R-M issued them here States side, but most of R-M’s kits are pretty good, and yes can be improved but for more bang for you bucks I’d recommend the R-M kits anyways, almost all of the newer issues have great details as with the late-70’s to mid-90’s releases

Both the Helldiver & Catalina are shown on Great Models web site as " Future Releases", so a reissue of those 2 may be in the works.

Regards, Rick

I’m working on Revell’s 1/48 Rafale M jet. The level of detail is excellent, and the fit is ok. the downside is there isn’t a lot of quality aftermarket stuff (resin cockpit, decals) for this aircraft.

I heard that Revell’s 1/72 mig-21 is also very good, but I haven’t tried it myself.

i would have to recommend definitly the F-15 Eagle (as u can get it with a A.C. Moore %%40 coupon and pay around $17 for it ) and also their F-14 and A-10 all in 1/48 are good kits. i can only recomend these because these are what i have completed.

Sweet! I’ve been kicking myself for not picking up that PBY when it was out before.

Don’t bother with the 1/32 F-15E kit its a pig (doing one as i type )
but all is not lost go for their 1/32 Mig 29 Fulcrum kit its a gem ,
the fit is perfect I built one of these and I must say it was a pleasure to do OOB
with some tweaking here and there you can make an awesome plane

I have really enjoyed building Revell-Monogram’s 1/48 F-105D. The fit has been outstanding.

Hi, I can tell you the 1:48 Revell A-6E Intruder kit is excellent. I have built a few of them and the fit is excellent and the kit goes together well and looks great when finished.
Better still if you use the Verlinden cockpit Super Detail Kit .

The Revell kit, though, is excellent.

Someone did tell me the Intruder kit may be out of production now.
Hopefully not.

Another good one from Revell is their 1:48 scale EA-6A kit.
I do know this one is out of production…but you can often find it at good prices at some hobby shops.
