Recommendations for pilot figures

I have recently decreed that henceforth all my airplanes will be modeled in flight. It’s what they were designed to do and usually how they look best!
(I reserve the right to exceptions, especially for seaplanes.)

So, I need some pilots. I don’t want ghost planes!

Broadly speaking I’m looking for 48 and 72 scale

  • WWII
  • Early Cold War

I don’t have a 3Dprinter (yet… :eyes: )
And I’d rather not spend more on a figure than the airplane kit.

What have you used? What do you like?

I would try either Reedoak, or Reskit. Both make exceptional figures.

Revell made some injection plastic pilot figures in 1/72, WW II British and German I believe.

Hasegawa made an injection plastic 1/72 IJN pilot and crew set as well.

PJ Productions made a bunch of pilot figures in resin including NATO, but they are out of business.

Perhaps folks on the forum might have some unused figures lying around in the parts box.

Legend Production figures look pretty nice. I’ve never seen one in person but they look great online both in detail and pose

Well, I could Google. And may yet. But I wanted to get some advice from a group of opinionated, experienced modelers. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Just busting your b&lls. The forums are a huge source of knowledge.

Etsy also has small scale model figures too.

All in fun, friend. No worries.

CMK (Czech Model Kits) has good seated pilot figures, in resin, nicely sculpted and crisply cast. This is the 1/48 list:

From there, you can change the search fo 1/72 scale, too.

Surprisingly, in 1/32 scale those 21st Century Toy model kits that used to be sold at Walmart for $10 had very well detailed seated pilot figures in them. Revell’s ProModeler kits had some detailed pilot figures in 1/48 scale.
