Recommendations for a tank with interior for a newbie?

Any suggestions for one that is not too expensive?

I’d like to do it as an example to show my son, who likes to model battle damage but has nothing to show inside the tank.

Thanks!

Jon

Most tank models do not have an interior. You may want to have him do an APC like Tamiya’s M113 kit. It has a full interior including engine and is very easy to build.

It also includes figures as well.

I’m building this one now,It is a straight-forward build, but it is pretty detailed.

If your looking for an interior there arent many for tanks which are not aftermarket. Academy do a 1/35 Tiger which has one but its not 100% accurate

I’d look at Mengs 1/35 Bradley as its a better kit with a pretty accurate interior.

AFV did some clear ones which had a full inetrior but I think that was just T-34’s like Tojo suggested.

Obviously check else where for better deals the links are just for info

They make it with a clear or regular hull, the one i’m doing is regular plastic.

I have the Academy M3 Grant. It has a very detailed interior

Or, you can do a Priest, Hellcat, or Jackson., . These have open interiors which would keep you form having to cut the hulls of standard tanks or not being able to see much of the interior.

I was going to suggest the 113 track but the others beat me to it.

Another consideration would be the Hobbyboss Vietnam armored car they call the M-706. It’s a Army V-100 M.P. vehicle but has a interior with the parts for the machinegun turret. All you have to do is leave the hatches open and add a few details to them. I’ve got one that I’m getting ready to convert into the Air Force M-706 Commando Car.

Just something to think about.

I’m currently building the Tamiya M113. I can also vouch that it is an excellent starter build with a full interior

Thanks for the help, all! I ordered a pair of 113s - they look really good.

Also, is there a way for my son to sign in under his own “handle”/screen name?

Also the M113 has a large rear hatch so you get a good veiw of the interior.

Academy also has a M113 with full interior

Hey jonehlen, Everyone seems to have covered the tank kits with interiors (very limited). As for your son, yeah just sign him up! Have him create his screen name and password, add a pic for his avatar and he is good to go. We can always use some young blood for our hobby! Hop to it man!
