The batwing. batplane. batjet. It comes with many names, but Batman’s most trusted vehicle, one that predates the batmobile, is his plane. It’s taken on many shapes and styles since 1939, but it has always been my favorite part of the Batman world. Though it has alway represented real-life planes, the batwing has never been named as one particular one, for obvious copyright reasons! But in my mind, I have always wondered what the real-life batwing would look like, and what plane Bruce Wayne would choose as his fighter. I have always felt either an F-117 or a Harrier II, but what do you think? I was thinking it would be a fun project to get a model of whatever we decide on and make it up as the batplane, I have some ideas for a paintjob. Let me know what you think, this is for fun, so anything goes!
If the batwing was going to be based off of an actuial plane in the early days it would have HAD to be an helicopter unless Bruce had a full runway in his mansion. Now a days Id put my money on the harrier, being able to take off straight upward out of the batcave

Bruce Wayne would not settle for old technology. Go first class, the F-35 supersonic to boot.
He wouldn’t want anything that someone else had either - it would be unique. Something based on the YF-23 perhaps?
For a WW2 era plane, the XP-67 would fit the bill perfectly (in looks at least) [:D]
Some really cool ideas, I especially like the vz-9, it could be called the BatUFO. I don’t know of kits for a lot of these? anyone got any ideas? I still think the f-117 would be cool, any recommendations? Anyone know of good f-35 kits?
I know were talking about a “real life” aircraft. but remember wayne industries is a multinational multi billion dollar industy. Going on the new movies. my guess is he would take an experimental aircraft that never got off the ground (YF-23 for Example) and heavily modify it. So for example. The YF-17, Add VTOL or STOL capability (I say YF-17 instead of F-18 because batman wants a small agile aircraft, not a weapons platform) The VTOL or STOL might be accomplished by Fans in the wings(like the warhawk from the ps3 online game warhawk), or re-porting exhaust thrust down like the harrier. Once this is achieved. A coat of “stealth” paint is applied. Speciality weapons are applied (Massive gun, radar jamming, hyper powerful radar etc.) Cockpit is kitted out so batman can just jump in and be instantly be secured down. (magnetics?)
Now i encourage you to poke holes in my theory (please, i really want you too)
