real aircraft prices

I was just wondering if somebody knew if 195,000 was agood price for a D-Day veteran C-47 warbird. Heres a link to the website. www.courtesyaircraft.com and I was also wondering who makes the best C-47 model in 1/48 or 1/72

That’s about the norm. Planes are cheap in relative terms as there are so many out there still flying. Parts and qualified mechanics to work on them is a problem. Few mechanics touch the old radials (charge a mint if they do) and parts are scarce to say the least. Have to have many parts made or convert other parts to make availible ones work.

Someone once told me, “Don’t buy cars, buy airplanes, they appreciate in value faster.” Never purchase an aircraft without first having it inspected. The price might be a very nice one, but it could go lower after inspection, especially when problems are discovered.

In answer to your question…yeah that’s a fair price for a twin engine transport. There are some newer single engined four place aircraft that cost fair more! The question is do you have enough for the maintenance, hanger/ramp fees, insurance not to mention the cost to actually fly it.

Is that “Fly Away” cost? Seems low-balled to me… In contrast, a restored Mustang goes for about 2-2.5 million, a B-25 about half that to 1.5 million, according to the last “Trade-A-Plane” issue I looked at… I didn’t see the ad, but are you sure that it’s a D-Day veteran? That’s a lot of logbook to track down for proof…

I know it’s pipe-dream, but when I hit that Powerball, I’ve got a B-25J in mind for the “family warbird”… [:D] Big enough to take the family & friends along, small enough to find hangar space, and fairly economical (as warbirds go) to fly & maintain… I’ll never be able to get my ticket for anything like that, but I’ll have enough scratch to hire a pilot anyway, lol… I’ll just have to get a lot of bootleg time in the right seat (that’s what I do in CAF aircraft, heh)… Figure I’ll put it on the Airshow circuit to keep it making money, lol…

Well, a guy can dream, can’t he???

A10wrthg. Been in the warbird aircraft restoration business for the last 11 years, 195,000 for a flyable D-Day Gooney is a very good price.

Are you an A10 driver or crew chief?

Hans, when you hit the powerball you can adopt me to fly it with you.

That’s funny when 1 RB211 costs that much to overhaul!

What kind of deal can I get on a used C-5 Galaxy? I want a really big, luxurious plane to travel in. [(-D]
