Okay, I have several Qs:
1 What do you think is the best brand[?]
2 What paint brand do you normally use[?]
3 Can anyone tell me if Tamiyas 1/72 Messerschmitt Bf 109 is a satisfying kit[?] (In terms of overall detail, fit, etc.)
- Itelera (spelling) great 1:72 modern fighters
- Modelmasters
- Do not know, I am currently building the Hasegawa 1:48th of this. It is pretty good!
-
“Best” is a totally subjective term governed by personal taste. I agree Italeri makes great modern fighter kits in both 1/72 and 1/48. One of my personal favorites right now is Pavla, its all limited run stuff so a bit tricky, but they’re great for rare subject matter.
-
Usually I’m using Modelmaster acrylics.
-
Not sure, but Tamiya does a good job on most things so I suspect its good stuff
-
Tamiya is the “best” as far as fit and accuracy go, Italeri is trash, I have never enjoyed one of their models, they are just sloppy. I refuse to buy their stuff no matter how much people say they have improved.
-
Mostly Testors Acrylic, but I airbrush a lot of Tamiya acrylic too.
-
Tamiya’s 1/72 Me 109 is a great kit. Not a ton of detail, but very nice fit, good recessed lines and lots of building options. (Multiple props and noses). I am just finishing one in North African camo.
Well, there you go on question one, two like Italeri another won’t touch it. "best is what suits your personal building style.
You couldn’t pay me to touch AMT kits }![]()
The Best? Overall quality Tamyia is hard to beat. Hasegawa is very good to excellent. I’m partial to Monogram/Revel for a good balance of quality and cost.
I use ModelMaster paints- I prefer the enamels.
-
Best kit, to me, is whatever I happen to be working on at the time, unless it’s Testors, which I despise.
-
Citadel (Games Workshop) and Reaper Pro Paints.
-
I haven’t seen a bad Tamiya kit to date, so I’d bet it’s a decent one.

- I don’t limit my self to any brand and my advice to you is the same. You obviously, have web access so check reviews and make a subject by subject decision. As a side note, every Italeri kit I have built has been very nice. Now Lindberg, let’s not go there. 2) Model Master 3) You can’t go wrong with Tamiya![:D]
HI Fireinsignia best brand? hasegawa. For paints i use humbrol and revell. The 109 not seen it in plastic but if its tamiya it’ll probably be a good one. I too like Italeri kits they do some great subjects that no one else has touched…Gregers
1: Revell Monogram. They just have the most of what I want!
2: Testors/Testors’ Model Master. Nothing compares!
3:Ack! Not another BF-109 kit! There need to be more Intruder and Thunderchief kits! We need more WWII model kits like we need holes in our heads!
There is a Tamiya 1:72 Intruder. Ive built it. The prob is that its by Japanese make, so itll be harder for you to get your hands on it. Its not on display at tamiyausa.com, and I dont know if the kit was brought to america. I cant tell you about the Thunderchief, however.
hi everybody
for me the best or one of the best is accurate miniatures
and the new eduards .This to brands make models for
modeller
I use most brands but i like aeromaster
i don’t know that kit sorry [:)]
- The best is whatever I’m working on at present/
- Model Master paints. I prefer the enamels, but I also use the acrylics.
- The 109 kit’s pretty good. I’m not a 109 fan, so someone else could probably do justice to the kit in a better fashion than me.
Brand- Monogram
Paint- Humbrol enamals
Tamiyas 1/72 Messerschmitt Bf 109 - not a clue
