Rc crawler thread

1/16? That’s gotta be pretty big. Some of those rc tanks actually fire projectiles and the have tank wars with them on YouTube. Pretty neat stuff.

I believe they have infrared attachments that enable it for tank battles

Same here… nobody is interested in it where I live except my nephew. Its better when you have others to rock crawl with.

That’s neat, there is so much in the rc world these days. Just depends on how much your willing to pay…

The cool thing is that I repair rock crushing equipment all over the state, if I work on weekends I’m usually by myself so I’ve brought my crawler with me a few times to the quarries and played around a bit after I finish what I’m doing so that can be a bit of a blast for a bit before I hit the road.

So absolutely true… you can drop a boat load nowadays lol

FYI: Moved this thread to the Ready Room because it’s not static scale model related.

That crawler looks pretty wicked! Way back I built and raced Associated RC10 buggies. Lot of fun. I’m more into planes and helis now. But haven’t done much flying in the past couple years. Been spending my time on static models.

I actually do too! Here it is.

Mine is almost 16 inches long. It can fire little plastic yellow balls, and, as Anthony (Tojo72) said, they also have infrared things so that the tanks can “battle.” After so many shots one of them will be “knocked out,” and then after a moment turn back on. These Heng Long tanks are tough, though the infrared is failing.

That’s badass, I’d like to see one of the comp battles in real life. I’ve seen them on video.

Here are a couple shots of the RC4WD TF2

He did the tape masking and paint. This was the kit version so I sat at his side while he assembled it.

Nice! Looks awesome The kits are fun, but figuring out the electronics to use can be a real pain. My rock bouncer recommended a 2300 kv motor so me being me I picked up a 4200 kv motor, I had a two speed transition and easily hit 60 mph in low gear. As amazing as it was it wasn’t designed for speed so I picked up the recommended 2300 and put it in. Recommendations are recommended to follow :joy:

:laughing::laughing::laughing: that is so true… I do the same :laughing:. That is why I go with Spektrum. They have motor/electrical package pre-made for every category. From going very fast to low gear vertical rock crawling.

My bouncer has a Spektrum set up, no complaints with it.

Ya I’m all in with Spektrum. Great gear and no more frequency clothes pins.

Pulled down the crawler since i havent used it after i put the desert lizard shocks on, charged up a 3 cell and it starts raining like pretty much out of no where. Bummer.

A guy at work has a trx 4 high trail and we decided to bring our crawlers with us, we work in quarries. After exchanging mutual trash talk I made it roughly 5-10 min, rolled the crawler down the hill and broke the axle support rod end. Bummer. It was fun to get it off the shelf, I’ll add it to the stuff I gotta get to this weekend and then schedule a re-match.

Picked up a Redcat ascent fusion, not a bad rig so far, haven’t taken it out besides the yard yet though.

So we plan a beach trip, I always take a RC vehicle with me as there is obviously lots of sand but also large rocks and logs and hills etc. so the day before I start charging batteries, clean up my rock bouncer and just get stuff ready. The day we are leaving I slap a battery in it and the receiver is shot, must have gotten wet when I cleaned it. Anyways I pop a receiver off a crawler and install it but things are off because of the controller settings ( I use one controller for 3 vehicles) long story short the maximum range was about 15 feet. Usually it’s 100+. So we walk out on the sand and I goose this thing and it slows down all the sudden and starts slowly rolling towards the ocean…. I have no control of it, I start running like an idiot chasing this thing that’s trying to kill itself, I catch it a few feet before it goes in the water. Good lesson, always rebind the receiver for the proper vehicle.

Picked up proline hyrax tires, treal beadlocks and desert lizard shocks for the Ascent. Trimmed the body and removed some decals as well.
