So I have a few parts that I spray painted with a TS-14 Tamiya Black rattle can. The can is supposed to have a gloss finish but for some reason it turned out a tad flat around the edges of the piece I painted but not the center (It’s a car hood). So I was wondering if it would be safe to just completely re-coat the entire piece, with perhaps a heavier coat? Or would I need to strip the paint first? What would you guys suggest.
The cause to your problem is usually cause by applying the paint to thick, as it dries, the excess runs to the edge of the object. You could apply another thin coat, but I would determine is you are going to lose any molded detail. I tend to keep a bottle of clear gloss coat, and mostly airbrush my pieces. Rattle cans are convenient, but not always reliable. I especially find this with the Tamiya ones, even the lightest coat seems to go on pretty thick.
