Rattle can paints

What rattle can paints from Lowe’s or the local auto parts store are safe for use on my model planes ?

Just asking since 1 I don’t know where my airbrushes are and 2 I have almost zero experience with airbrushes. I have an A-10 I would like to get my black base coat and grey top coats painted. I don’t want to melt the plastic as I know these paints can be a little hot out of the can.

any help or suggestions would be great.

Never mind peeps. A little research says I would just be well of to buy a panache H and use one of several of the air compressors I already own or to buy the sweet paasche dual piston compressor with tank to put under my desk.

I have used Duplicolor brand of auto paints a lot. However it may not work with all primers. Test on scrap or a plastic spoon first. It works best wit auto body primers.

I used to use Rustoleum spray cans but now they will not work over Rustolum primer! Go figure.

I used to use Rustoleum primer, and also Walmart’s house brand of automotive primer. They both covered well, though they were a little grainier than primers made specifically for scale modeling (like Tamiya’s Fine Surface Primer). But that wasn’t a big problem, because you can easily give the surface a swipe with something like rough paper towel or coffee filters, or green scouring pads to knock it back if necessary.

The problem I had was that both brands changed the nozzle cap on their cans, and both the nozzle and the neck of the can where the nozzle inserts would clog. I could clear the nozzle easily enough by a soak in SuperClean and some fine brushes and needles. But I couldn’t clear the neck of the can. I wound up with half a can of paint that I couldn’t get out of the can. And it wasn’t worth it to me to deal with that, so I stopped using those products.
