Rare plane vacforms L-1049 super constln.

I ran across this model, and I don’t have alot of skill with the vacform stuff. Should i build it or try something else? Love the plane…Does somebody make it in a plastic kit form?

Heller has produced the Connie both in the EC-121 and the L-1049 versions. Unfortunately, they modified the molds a while back to turn it into an L-749/C-121A (the short nosed early version). The EC-121/L-1049 versions show up occassionly on Ebay. Despite some problems w/nacelle and prop shape (and there is resin AM parts to correct that), it would be an easier build than the vacuform kit.

Don’t quote me but I have seen somewhere on the net that Heller will be re-releasing the L-1049 kit very shortly.

I am an old vacumform model builder and built the Rareplanes kit some 25 years ago. It is not the model to build if you do not have any vacumform model building experience. Rareplanes is an excellant vacumform model company but you should build a few small vacumforms before tackling this one.

Hi Richard - what’s the Rareplanes Connie like for accuracy? Does it come with parts such as undercarriage & props etc.?
