Racing Diorama

I need to build a racing diorama for my future son-in-law. I have the cars built (1:25 scale), but was wondering if there were accessories for dioramas like you find in Verlinden’s books. I was hoping someone could help.

This is a NASCAR diorama.

Thanks in advance.

Larry

What kind of race cars are we talking about? NASCAR,drag, dirt? There are alot of item out there but we kinda need to know what kind of setting you need.Let us know…

Hi Larry, welcome to FSM!!

Here’s a rough shot of the racing dio I done a couple years ago using the “speed blur” technique. It’s mounted in a 1/24/25 display case with elevated track surface, retaining wall, and race-fans photograph on the back.

It’s surprisingly simple to create this type illusion without spending an arm & leg on accessories.

Take care,
Frank

That is very cool oldhooker.

Not sure what your looking for, but Motorworks has some die-cast Nascar items that could be used in a diorama. I know they have a pit wagon that comes with tires, jack stands, a dolly, and maybe a couple of other things. They also have drivers that come in several different standing poses.

There are also several sets of generic “garage accessories” which may help fill some of the space. While these are not NASCAR specific they do ususally have things like air compressors and bottles , assorted air tools , tool chests and so on. If you really get stuck have a look at some stuff in 1:24 which can be an alternative in some cases.
Try toy shops too tas well as model specific shops. They are often a surprising source.
Good luck with the build and a few pics would be great too.

Cheers , Pete.

PS Don’t you just HATE IT when you are waiting for what you have written to be posted and THEN you emember the other thing you wanted to say !!

Welcome to the place Larry.

Cheers , Pete.

I sometimes wonder why the major kit manufacturers don’t produce the obvious - like a modern pit setup complete with air wrenches, hoses, tool boxes, crew members, computers, the pit marker pole (whatever they call it), crew chief’s seat, etc. I think it would sell like crazy. But, I guess the companies do their maketing research and probably the reason it’s not out there is because the demand doesn’t justify the tooling.

The pit road stuff you find in some kits definitely has an '80s-ish look, but I’m not holding my breath until a modern example comes out.

Frank - I remember your Cessna diorama. You are a master at representing models in motion using the blur effect.
