Quick Pond Diorama

I havent had much time for modelling recently, but I did have an interesting school project. Well, for some reason I had to make a diorama of a duck pond for Spanish II (yeah your guess is as good as mine) Anyways, I decided to have some fun with it, so I started with a thick cardboard base, made basic shapes of clay and driveway stones, filling in cracks with watery clay. Then I painted everything brown, and drybrushed in lighter and lighter shades. Next, I painted rocks grey and drybrushed lighter grey on them. Then some watered down carpenters glue and static grass. I mixed up some resin and poured it in, and as it dried I stuck in little pieces of plants and sticks from outside to make it look real. I added some clay ducks, but they arent in the picture. All in all, I thought it came out pretty well for 45 minutes worth of work and $0 spent on my part. Just thoguht Id post it to see what you guys thought.

Fantastic. Very nice! Great to hear from ya!

Steve

Yeah very cool!

Welcome back Ian!

Madre di dios ! Muy bueno !

thanks for the comments! I hope Ill get back in to modelling this summer, I kind of go in and out of interest sometimes.

Well, we’re still waiting for pictures from Omaha beach, so you BETTER get interested![(-D]

Steve

Shouldnt be any problem ther Steve, today was my last day of school (exams actually [xx(] remind me again WHY I need to know how to divide the square root of 147.6 by the square root of 54.8 again?!) any ways, Im already bored! Shouldn’t be more than a week before I start living at my modelling bench again, besides its about 20 degrees cooloer down there. I dunno how you stand it in Texas, I almost passed out playing paintball yesterday, and it was only about 85 degrees!

To better your building of dioramas, naturally. Pouring plaster, mold compound, fashioning floors and walls… pay attention so I can ask you later! And also to calculate whether or not you should venture outside in Texas summer:

I mowed the lawn on Saturday and with 92 degrees + 80% humidity X square feet of lawn divided by years of age (38) = near certain death from heat exhaustion.

And it’s only June.

Steve

[:D] that made my morning! You see, I’d pay attention more if thats how the questions were posed. They kind of bribe us to do well. The local ski mountain gives seasons passes to any kid who gets all A’s all year. Thats what I call incentive.

Ian-

Love that photo in your signature!

“Kann nicht das beruhen!”

I know!! Both that picture and my avatar were shamelessly copied from pictures I found on a different forum. The picture itself was funny, but the MC Hammer reference just made it that much better!

Did you look up to see what “Kann nicht das beruhen!” means?

I tried, but those translation sites never work with direct translations. It came out to something look no time for rest, or no resting!, right?

According to my translator, it means “Can’t touch this” [:D]

looks really good

I love it! wonder how you say “2 legit, 2 legit to QUIT!”

LOL
