Hi, a few days ago I bought about 50 dollars worth of material from greatmodels, much of it paint, I made sure everything I ordered was in stock. I logged on my paypal and paid right away, total came out to 51 dollars. So today I get an email from them basically saying that they didnt receive the payment and that to update my credit card information. My question is, is this normal for greatmodels ? I mean, I paid but only to get an email saying they wont ship until they get their payment. I replied with the paypal transaction id and im waiting for a reply. so again, has anyone here expierenced anything like this ? And if you guys can, can you give me other sites I can buy model supplies from. Thx
Not being a subscriber to PayPal I cannot address that point. I have read mixed opinions about GreatModels. I have ordered supplies from them and had no troubles with using a debit card on-line.
SprueBrothers is an excellent place…they show what is in stock…and what isn’t…very handy and they ship FAST!
Squadron is always trustworthy…there are many others, but these are my two faves.
[#ditto] I have never used Great Models, mostly because of the myriad of complaints I have read about here.
I’ve never had a problem with GM, but I only order by phone & use a regular credit card. I closed my PayPal account a few years ago because of screw-ups like this & because of all the fake PayPal scammers.
I also use Squadron & Sprue Brothers & both their service is great in my experience.

thx for the replies all, ill be buying from those sites from now on. And an update from greatmodels “We will ship your order as soon as possible.”", all this for some friggin paint. Something tells me this wont ship till next week after searching others with this same problem. I would just ask for a refund but I know that would take even longer, just to refund my money.
I ahve ordered many times from Great Models, both over the phone and on-line and never had a problem paying with my bank card. If the problem is with Paypal, don’t blame GM. Also that updtae from GM is standard and used to confirm your order.
How long does it normally take to get mail order. I have received some ebay items in a couple of days but I ordered paint from whiteensignhobbies and it’s been three weeks and still nothing. They must have shipped via rowboat.
White Ensign is in England. Depending on where you are in the states. THe ship unloads in Boston/New York then a truck will take it to you. Great Models is now seling White Ensign paint
