I got a Kubelwagen type 82 that I’m thinking of putting it in a diorama set in a French city The kit gives you the option of either using dark yellow or panzer gray (what kind of a gray is this?). Can I use either color?
Panzergrey is a very dark grey. Most paintmanufacturers sell it as “German Grey”.
As for what colour you can use, well, all about what year you want the kübelwagen to be in.
German grey, or Panzergraü was used up til 1943. In 1943, Dünkelgelb, or Dark Yellow, was introduced as the base colour of German military vehicles.
Hope it helps!!
Also, welcome to the forums! [:D]

Keep in mind that you can do both in a diorama as well… Units that had grey vehicles assigned when the order came down had to repaint them, and many didn’t bother with the interior. Vehicles that were manufactured after the order came down would have both the interior and exterior in Dunkelgelb, while the older ones would have the gelb on the exterior only… Not much of a job, and adds a little interest to the final product… I like to do this when a diorama I’m doing calls for say, a Kubelwagen and a Blitz, ie: the Kubelwagen gets the new factory paint job and the truck’s an old “veteran” with many, many kilometers of service behind it… Just adds a small bit of “character” to the vehicles…
Agree with Mike here…
There also may be vehicles that weren’t repainted at all… Think far-in-the-front-too-busy-with-fighting kind of vehicles.
