Question for Swanny

Swanny,I finally got a digital camera and would like a step-by step guide on how to post pics on the Finescale forum. Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide.

So, even though there are many fine members here who have been successfully importing photos, if you are waiting for Matt…I gues we will too. By the way there is a whole section on this forum that explains this process in DETAIL. I would give you a two sentence instruction, but, hey…you didn’t ask[sigh]

Well Crockett, any help would be welcome!(Sorry,I didn’t mean to exclude anyone!)

Ok buddy, first take your pics and download them to your hard drive. Then go to www.photobucket.com, and sign up for a FREE account. Just follow the instructions on the site. Once that is done, use the Upload function buttons on your new account to upload jpg.'s and a variety of other file formats into your album. Then, just copy and paste from the bottom box under your photo, the one that starts and ends with IMG/ into your thread…easy as pie.

Gee, I’m honored to be considered such an expert. Of course if you take a look at the word ‘expert’ and break it down you have ‘ex’ meaning old and ‘spurt’ meaning drip under pressure.

As for posting images here, yes, there is a complete tutorial availible within this site but basically what you need to do is open an on-line account with a photo hosting site like photobucket and upload your pictures from your computer to that site. Once that is accompished then you click on the image within photobucket and get the actual url address which would look something like this http://www.swannysmodels.com/images/F16CJ/flight1.jpg Now you want to copy that address line and bring it to the forum. When writing your post you need to add some image tags before and after the picture address. the image code is (img) but with ( replaced with [. This is the start tag which tells the system a picture is next, now insert your picture address. Lastly you need to tell the system that the picture is done with another tag (/img) again replacing ( with [. So now we put all this together and your get this this string (img)http://www.swannysmodels.com/images/F16CJ/flight1.jpg(/img) and when I replace () with you get this image.

Thanks for the replies!I guess It is not as complicated as I thought! Will try it out when I have more time.

Here’s a link to that tutorial (which I did ask to get stickied, sigh):

Note that since that was made Photobucket made two small changes. There is now only upload pics or videos, instead of the two tabs, and you no longer have to copy the IMG link. It automatically does it for you.
