I figure the site name says it all so I thought you would be the person to ask. I just bought the Italeri kit on Ebay and I see form your site you have the same kit. I wanted to ask is there any particular aspects to this kit that need to be addressed to make this an accurate kit of an M4A1 76(W)?

Try this site http://www.usarmymodels.com/MANUFACTURERS/Italeri/italeri225.html. It should give you an idea of where you need to start.

Hey Joe, thanks for the link, but I can’t access it.
Is it valid?
I guess it all depends on how far you want to go with it. I’ve always considered this to be a pretty good kit especially when you consider how old it is.
The most glaring mistake is the gun barrel, but that can easily be replaced.
The other area of concern is the tracks. They are very stiff and tend to cause breakage in the idler wheel assembly if you are not real careful.
Other than that, I find it to be a most enjoyable build.
Thanks, Panther and Sherman!
j-hulk,
Past the link in the browser’s address window and remove the last period

Thank you, Sir!
I couldn’t even see that last period on my geezer monitor! Works like a charm now.
Nice link![:)]
J-Hulk / Aurora-7,
Sorry you couldn’t access the site from my posting but a big thanks to Aurora-7 for fixing it up. Hope it helps out.

Joe
Shermanfreak,
My apologies to you. I wasn’t trying to cut you out. I really appreciate your willingness to help all of us in need. I thank you as well for all the help you have provided to me in the past (and future, I hope). If anyone reading this doesn’t already know, Rob is “THE MAN”
when it comes to Shermans.
Regards,
Joe
When the kit first came out, there were complaints about the size of the mantel for the main gun (too small). I’ve never checked it, because I just had fun building the kit, but I’d imagine that it’s underscaled if folks said so. It’s a nice basic kit and I’ve detailed the interior on one.
Ron.
No reason to apologize Joe … you were there with the answer needed.
And the link you provided is one of the best on the net for Allied models.

No sweat, Joe. And that is one cool link! Now I could use one like that for German armor to accurize my Tamiya Panther Ausf. A!.
Shermanfreak,
Thanks. You’re a 1st class act and all around good guy.
Aurora-7,
I’m still new at this (posting, cutting and pasting etc.). At least I could get the basic information into the hands of someone that could do something with it.
Regards,
Joe
Thanks for the cool link. Does any know if you can still purchase Collectors Brass U.S. Tank Tools w/Mounting Straps & U.S. Pioneer Tools w/Mounting Straps.

That is a cool site, Joe, Thanks again!
So, how are you going to build your M4A1?
I’m not sure yet. Thanks to the site Joe listed and also the one I stumbled accross ( www.jagdtiger.de ) I have a lot of reference photos. I originaly was planning to display my tank kits as two adversaries parked together on the same display base (i.e. a Sherman vs a Panther). I got this Sherman kit to go with a Tamiya Panther G kit I also got from ebay.
The jagdtiger site really blew me away! I see that others in the forum already knew about it. It seems there are a lot of WWII tanks on display throughout Europe.
J-Hulk,
Glad I could help for a change. Seems whenever I get on here it’s always to get help. Feels good to be able to actually return a bit of the kindness I’ve received from the others on this board.
Not sure if you were asking Aurora or me which way we are going to build the M-4. If it was directed at me, I’m going to do one straight from the box. The other I will swap out the turrets with the Tamiya M4A3 and make a M4A1 75MM and M4A3 76. Wish all here the very best.
Regards,
Joe
Mark - you can try The Barrel Store for Collector’s Brass. They still list those items as being available but they are discontinuing the line. Here’s the link to that page and remember all their prices are in Canadian Dollars.

Does anyone know if Collector’s Brass is going out of or already is out of business???
Seems like they’re being discontinued from many suppliers.
Thanks Robert. You are the man.
