Question about Tiger II's?

Did any of the two different designs end up in the same company? I know there were very few of either design but a lot less of the Porsche designs am I correct? I got one of each for Christmas, Tamiya kits and thought about depicting them in the same company, but wasn’t sure if that ever occured or not anyone have any links about them or know for sure, pics etc…, thanks in advance.

To quote page 250 of The Combat History of Schwere Panzer Abteilung 503; “Both of the tanks were repaired and returned to the 3rd company of sPzAbt.503. That is why, in many of the photographs from the upcoming employment in Hungary, two Tiger II’s with Porsche turrets are to be seen alongside the newer models with “production turrets””.

I stumbled upon this quote purely by accident, I never would have been able to find it otherwise. [(-D]

Thanks, thats exactly what I wanted to her.

the porche Kingtiger Analease was still being used late in the war, with Henshell versions

According to records only 450 Tiger II’s were built. The first 50 were Porsche turrets the remainder were Henschel.

TigerII

The actual number of Tiger IIs produced is 492.

ok I’ll be the nitpicker here ( don’t take it to serious though ) The phrase “Porshe turret” is ab it misleading, both turrets were designed and build by Krupp, but one was for the Porshe design and the other for the Henschel design, the decission about which design that would be used was taken so late that 50 turrets for the porshe design had already be produced, these were used on the first 50 tanks produced.
Like Captain caveman said, the tank nicknamed “Annalise” ( North european girl name ) from s.PzAbt. 503 is a good example, it stayed in service with the unit into the winter of 1944-45 along side production turret versions.

Thanks everyone. Yeah, I was thinking there were just under 500 made total, but couldn’t remember the exact number. I just wasn’t sure if the two were in the same company. Thanks again guys.
