I have a homemade spraybooth (that works really well) that I have always used for acrylic paint. It uses a tabletop/desk type fan for fume extraction. Lately I have considered trying out some of the lacquer based paints like MRP but am wondering if this would be a no-no since the fumes actually pull through the motor.
I am wondering if I would need to convert over to this type of blower or would the quantity of paint/ thinner be so small as to not worry about a hazard with my current setup? I have not ever examined a commercial AB booth but have always assumed that they use little computer style fans that also pull the fumes through the motor…
Most computer fans are so-called muffin fans. You can buy reasonably priced 110 muffin fans and they can plug right into the wall socket. Some computer fans are low voltage DC fans that would need a DC power supply in addition to the fan. If the computer fan you have in mind is 110 AC, fine, otherwise I would just go directly to the 110 AC. That is what I used in the post on my unit up in the tools forum.
