Quick question. I know that Waldron Products makes a nice punch set but it is a bit pricey for my budget. I seem to recall a lesser expensive set mentioned here in this forum. Does anyone recall the name of this less expensive set and where it is available?
I bought an inexpensive set from Micro Mark last year that has worked great for me. I think the set ran about $35.00.
Here are the details from their website. www.micromark.com
Micro Punch Set is Ideal for Making Miniature Gauges, Lenses, Washers, Gaskets and More!
Toolmaker-grade micro punch set makes perfect miniature disks from plastic, wood veneer, cloth – even metal! And it punches tiny holes in materials virtually impossible to drill: thin metal sheet, cork, rubber, vinyl, and more. Use it on pre-printed paper gauge-faces and clear acetate sheet to create the most realistic miniature instrument panels you’ve ever seen. Also makes custom size washers and miniature gaskets. Easy to use: Just place the material between the clear guide plate and the perfectly matched hardened steel die, then insert the punch and tap through. Includes 9 precisely ground and hardened steel punches ranging from 1.0 mm (0.039 inch) to 5.0 mm (0.197 inch) diameter in 0.5 mm (0.0197 inch) increments. Approx. overall size: 1-1/4 inches x 2-5/8 inches.

You can make your own too. You just need a set of drill bits and two 2" x 6" pieces of 1/4" thick clear acrylic or plexiglass and a couple of brass rivets or 1/4 inch long steel rod no larger than the largest hole you’d need to punch out. If you can drill holes and use a machinist file you can make one in an hour or less.
[#ditto] That’s where I got mine from. Very nice set!
