I have decided to start my 1/48 Tony and have a question on markings.I have decided to mark it as belonging to the 244th Sentai(Green Mottle over natural matal as well as red epennage and stripes)and notice an apparent conflict. On the box end panel, the black-out panel ,spinner and prop blades are depicted as being painted flat black. However,in the instructions you are directed to paint the spinner and prop blades reddish brown.Which is correct for the version I wish to model?
The spinner & prop blades would most likely have been painted in the red brown primer used by the IJAF.

[#ditto] I checked all my references and that is what they show. (what a job that was, I need to organize my Library)
Philo—The sheet in the 1/32 calls out the redbrown. Curious… does the 1/48 say to paint the covers on the cowl guns red?
Thanks for clearing that up guys!I’ll paint the spinner and prop blades like a painted the Myrts!
No .Wing Nut the instructions say to paint the black-out panel and cowl gun covers flat black.BTW how did you paint the mottle on your Tony?Looks like brush-work perhaps?
It was sprayed with templates cut from the instruction sheet enlarged to 1/32. It was difficult in 1/32 … I don’t even wnat to think what it would b like in 1/48[xx(]
Well if I can paint the cammo on my Tiny Kubelwagon then hopefuly my Paasche VL is up to the task!
Hey all, a 70-15-15 mix of MM military brown, flat black, and flat insignia red is about as close as you can come to the red brown primer (N12/A13 - FS *0111) in the testors range. Hu 70 is a fairly close match as well, (though sometimes its a bit more off than others) if Humbrol is available where you are.

Well I’ll just use the Badger Modelflex Maroon Tuscon oxide red(Hows that for a long name?!) that I used on the Myrt’s prop blades.
Sounds good![:)]
Thanks cardshark [tup][tup]
