Puttin' on the BLITZ !

Once again, Pix, You have made me green with envy. Outstanding, as usual. By the way, shouldn’t that little wooden bomb sled say “Rosebud” somewhere on it!?

Again, hats off to you-

jeez Pix, I am at a loss for words. Very incredible work! How was the kit?

bill again outstanding work. simply jawdropping.

joe

looks EXCELLENT Bill!![tup] i’m sure you will come up with something to build really soon.[:)]

Just incredible. Your work never fails to amaze me. Thanks for sharing your labor of love.

Pix,

Amazing work again! Your effort and hard work show through and through, literally. I’m inspired to achieve better results on my builds. thanks for sharing your work/tips with us.
Much appreciated,

What’s next? The C-47? another fighter? anything pulling your interest in particular?

Hey, Pix -
That looks great. The RATO bottles are fantastic - and what did you use to put all the rivets along the canopy framing?
Looks really good - you should be very happy with that one.

Thanks Jeeves, ModelNerd, armorman, fightnjoe, saltydog, tigerman, nicodemus, and leemitcheltree !

Jeeves - 'twould be very nice to see my stuff in ink !

ModelNerd - if I named the sled “Rosebud,” I’d have to change the post’s title to "Citizen Plane " ! [(-D] You had me rollin’ on the floor with that one !

armorman - as long as the cockpit bulkhead’s edges are sanded and the (mis)alignment pins are removed from the wing halves, construction is pretty straightforward. Of course, I used a lot of replacement and detail parts from Verlinden and Eduard, but an OOB build would probably not be too difficult provided that you dryfit.

nicodemus - I put the C-47 on the back burner after cutting all the windows out of clear sheet plastic. I’ll probably resume work on it soon, as there’s not all that much left to do.

leemitcheltree - the rivets are decals. They are included on the Eagle Strike sheet. It’s a nice touch, as I’d never be able to paint all those prominent rivets so well !

Thanks again !

Pix,
The model is just stunning. It measures up to you excellent standards. You have definately set the standard for us to attain. You are truly an inspiration for the rest of us. Now if you could put out a “step by step” CD for the styrene challenged.

Kurt

Outstanding Pix, This is a great build. I have really enjoyed whatching it go together

Thad

Thanks Missile and Thad !

Missile - I’ve been thinking of doing a DVD. I have a Sony digital video camera, Adobe Premiere software, and a DVD writer. Maybe someday . . .

Thad - glad you enjoyed it ! It was a pleasure to share this build with everyone here.

Thanks again !

Heya Pix…

Just give me a heads up as to when you send in the CD to them and I will keep an eye out for it bro…

Absolutely stunning work, Pix! Great work on a very interesting aircraft.
Congrats on successfully overcoming the cracked glazing and other challenges this kit presented you with.

Hi Pix,

I am now insanely jealous! You have produced a outstanding model. Wow! does’nt do this one justice, its brilliant, beautiful and bang-on! Incredible work my friend, you just get better and better!

Regards,

Darren.

ummm wow. Nice indeed.

Dave

Thanks Jeeves, Brian, Darren, and Dave !

I want to share something else with you here. This is not meant to generate any sympathy. It’s just the way it is, and something with which I have to deal.

I am right-handed, and this is what my right hand looks like.

In late '90, I sliced through the tendons in last two fingers of my hand, where the arrows are. If you look closely, you can see the scars from the zig-zag incisions the length of my fingers that the surgeon used to put the tendons back together. A couple years later, a contracture set in (fingers won’t straighten, limited range of motion). The little finger of my left hand also has this condition. On top of that, a disc in my neck herniated in Nov. of '03, which left nerve damage in the same two fingers (my luck ! [D)] ). The palm side is hypersensitive (painful to the touch), and the back of my hand is numb (like touching another person).

This injury has taught me much about modelling (and to a greater extent, life). It’s not about the things that come easily. It’s about overcoming the obstacles. In building models, there can be MANY obstacles. To me, it’s not avoiding the obstacles or letting them stop you. It’s about carrying on in spite of them.

Hopefully, this can be of inspiration to some. If I can build models with five fingers and two thumbs, it’s not because of any special ability. It’s because I won’t allow the obstacle to block my desire to realize what I see in my mind’s eye.

Sorry for the long, philosophical reply, but I wanted to share this with the people that say they feel discouragement when they look at my build. I want to say that you can do it too !

Thanks again !

Pix,
You are truly an inspiration to all of us. Keep overcoming those obstacles and keep those beeyouteeful planes rolling off your assembly line.
Oh, and put me down for the first of the instructional DVDs.

Kurt

Very impressive build and inspirational background information on you, Bill.

For what it’s worth, whenever I see other work (like yours[;)]) that is far better than what I’m capable of, I think of your quote: “Build what you like, like what you build.” My goal is “acceptable,” and not “perfect.” Otherwise, I’d probably go insane!

Thanks for sharing.

Mark

Pix, I always look forward to your builds as I know the are always of a quality that I could only wish that I could achieve. But this one is a cut above everything you’ve done, it’s just awesome.

BTW, Young Frankenstein is one of my all time favourite movies and even reading your intro made me laugh just thinking about it.

Cheers
Darren

Thank you Kurt, Mark, and Darren !

Kurt - I’ve often wondered why I haven’t seen any instructional video before. Still photos only show a moment in time, but our hobby is a continual process. When I can afford it, I’ll be doing a website. From there I can offer the DVD, since most modelling sites (such as this one) don’t allow advertising.

Mark - I don’t think that “perfection” is attainable. It’s a direction in which to strive. If I ever built a model that was “perfect,” it would be time to find another hobby. It’s trying to do better that makes me open the next box !

Darren - “Young Frankenstein” is one of my favorite movies of all time. SO many great scenes. “Abby who?” “Abby Normal.” [(-D][(-D][(-D]

Thanks again !
