Sorry, but what’s a PT 596? If it’s a car, you might want to ask in the Auto forum, too.

PT-596 was an ELCO 80’ US Navy motor torpedo boat :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Bruce - all the pictures I’ve found online don’t show a windshield.

I found one picture on navsource.net that shows PT 596 with a windscreen just in front of the captains wheel. It was under the motor torpedo boat photo archive. I had to zoom in pretty good to make out the clear windscreen in black and white. I hope this helps.

Welcome to the forum and until your question, I had no idea what a PT-596 was so thank you for the education.

Thanks! I wondered if it was a PT boat, I’d never heard of it.
I change my tip from the Autos forum then to Ships. There might be more info there.

over 600 were built during the war. 1st one were Higgins 78 feet then Elco built thier version at 80 feet PT stands for Patrol torpedo boat and the 596 is it’s Hull number. 596 was built in the last year of the war. there were so many different versions of these boats new modes being done almost every time a new boat was built they had 3 Allison engines in each one. after the war the motors were heavy sout after in boats like the different hydro boat, they ran on aviation fuel. https://www.history.navy.mil/research/histories/ship-histories/u-s-navy-pt-boats.html
