PT-17

I started this little plane for some thing different , its been along time since I built a biplane. so in between GB’s I will give ita shot…

Cool! I’ve heard great things about this kit. Looks like you’ve got a good start. Following.

You don’t do a lot of planes, do you?

This should be fun. You are a talented modeler and I don’t think I ever tried a bipe.

Thanks for the WIP, we need some reading material is mucho appreciated.

Looks good, gotta build one of these things myself.

I still have this one in a box. Watching intently.

One of the best things about that kit is that the cabane struts are molded to the fuselage. This eliminates needing to glue those at exactly the right angle. With that Stearman kit the wing sits level! Do clean up the top end of the struts, however, and ensure then engage fully with the recesses in the top wing.

Thanks guy’s This is a challenge for me due to scale its in 1/48 but still its small…

and the rigging man its been a long while. I do have an old mongram F3F-3 in 1/32 but t

he decals are bad and yellow wings decals are on B/O.

yes good tip I do like the moded in struts. so tet fitting and interior

Looks good, I did that kit a few years ago, and like people say the struts are a pain to seat to the wings and level. Overall well fitting and engineering for the kit. Here’s an in depth build review from FSM a few years back.

thanks jrock. here are the latest pics engine and prop.

Which prop will you use, the metal or the wooden one?

the wooden one…

Is that pilot in the upper right going to be used for plane?

jrock. no that is a german infantrymen from Tamiya ,that I just removed the paint to start over between builds.

the latest engine pic.

Looking really nice. Does this kit have the decals for the prop, or did you paint? Either way, looks great. I have the kit, but it’s late and I’m too tired to look! Joe

Thank you Joe. yes the kit brings prop decals and the prop is painted.

How do I paint a nice wood-colored/grained prop? I‘ve got that Piper o’ mine…[:D]

Great looking start. I’ve been tempted to get one of these. It gets favorable reviews.

Nice looking build, love the lok of that prop and great work on the engine.

Will be following.

Ted many thanks.

John Im glad you like the prop the decals that come with the kit are pretty nice. I give the prop a coat of tamiya buff, give streaky coat of burnt umber oil paint and seal it with tamiya clear orange.

Kensar I waiting for LH to get another one at 40% off …

Bish thank you. I beat the 14:00 daily rain today to paint with tamiya x-4 blue
