I am trying to attach an after-market resin firewall to a 1/48 Hasegawa Stuka (styrene) and it is not working well. I am using a generic super glue. Is there a special glue I should be using?
Super Glue (CA) should do the job. I use Zap-A-Gap which is specifically meant for modeling. Another alternative is Quick Set Epoxy, but I think CA would be a better choice. You might want to try a different brand of Super Glue (CA).

I always use the “carded” Super Glue that you buy in the grocery store for like 1.99 for four tubes… From my own experience, I don’t think the pricey “hobby-brand” CA glues are any better… Just cost more…
You may want to get a super glue accelerator though… CA glues, regardless of what they claim, don’t stick instantly. Well, they do, initially, but a litle bump will break the bond and then you have to hold the part in place a bit before the bond will happen… You might want to try clamping/taping the part in place, then applying the glue and hit it with the accelerator. Just watch out for capillary action pulling the glue into the tape/plastic/resin joint… Apply it in a few strategic places, wait for the bond, then finish gluing it tight…
did you clean the resin piece thoroughly? the mold release compound used on the resin, and the strene for that matter can keep the glue from adhering.
