I have an Olympos HP100B AB. Today I tried to use it to paint my gundam model but no or very little paint come out. If it’s just water or tamiya arcylic thinner, then it seems to be work. I’ve been reading answers from the forum but I just need to confirm the problem and maybe solution.
I’m using tamiya arcylic paint, thinned using its arcylic thinner. I’m not sure about pressure of my compressor but there’s nothing to set, just on/off. Last time I used it, it was ok for a while but it also got stuck after a while. I had to sort off secure the needle rather behind to let the paint spray out.
I’m thinking that the paint is not thinned enough but if I thinned more, it seems too watery. Since it has a 0.2 nozzle, must it be very thin? Also, I wonder my paint is ok. It’s been many yrs but it still looks ok, no clump. Is this a valid guess?
I also noticed that there’s actually paint blowing in a thin line but stuck at the outlet, around the needle region.
It could be your paint. When paint gets old the pigment particles can begin to stick together and make little clumps (flocculate). And, the tiny .2mm nozzle makes this especially a problem. If the airbrush sprays thinner OK, it’s probably not the airbrush. Also, your compressor is probably marginal for pressure and volume. That doesn’t help either.
You might want to buy some fresh paint and see how that works.
I finally got time to check again. I realised that my air tube connecting the compressor and airbrush has a leak near one end. So that’s why I’m not getting enough pressure.
So can I just cut off the part which leaks and attach it to the metal tube? Or must I buy a new tube + hose?
Also, there’s some slight spatters but I’m not sure if it’s due to the leak. So I will 1st solve the leak problem.
It looks like you could cut the hose and re-attach it. But, I’m not familiar with that hose. Since it leaks, you’ve got nothing to lose by trying. You have a nice airbrush. Maybe it’s time to upgrade to a better compressor.
