Hey Guys,
I normally build allied stuff and give my kit a nice undercoat of black.I’m a bit out of my element when it comes to Axis but my Marder is ready for the paint booth.
So do I pre shade with black? What do you guys normally do with Grey?
Sorry if this has been done into the dirt…
I preshade with black, spray the gray, which I lighten somewhat with a little white (out of the bottle looks a little dark IMO). Then I will spray some more that is even a little lighter in random areas to further weather it. I go back over panel lines if I lose the preshade with some Tamiya smoke (spray flat to kill the shine). After it is all dry, give it a nice wash and drybrushing
Thanks Jason… That’s the direction I was heading. I’m going to finish it off with a whitewash but I’m still on the fence about how I’m going to do it. I’m not sure if I’ll airbrush a really thinned white or try a water based white that’s brushed on.
Thanks again…
If you are replicating those winter paint schemes, there were a couple of threads not to long ago about this. Dwight Ta-ala and rebelreenactor have some nice ideas. Post a question about it and you will get a few ideas (I only ever used one and I sprayed a thin white on. I am not sure I liked the way it turned out. They brushed it on with whatever they had, mine didn’t look that way. Not bad, just…not quite right. Of course I tend to be anal.
