This is a simple or complicated answer.

First draw a simple plan to gauge the size and finished idea and work from that. You could use the structures in the Great Escape movies as a reference to draw from.

If there is to be no view to the interior i.e. you have all the shutters closed and the door(s) closed. You can simply use sheet styrene and form the basic rectangular shape for the lower part of the hut. Then you can use pre-stamped clapboard from the styrene section in a local Train Modeler shop for the siding. Frame in the windows with either more styrene or use wood. To build the roof cut two lengths of sheet styrene with a bit of overhang for the eaves at either end. Cut the “pitch” of the roof end pieces again from sheet styrene and add some clapboard siding to each. Decide whether the hut is to be tarpaper or tile covered. Tarpaper can be made by cutting a fine grade sandpaper to length and pasting in place. Tiles can be cut from the grey cardboard back of a notepad or even using cereal box cardboard. Simply cut the tiles and lay them on. Start at the lower edge and work your way to the peak overlap the layers as you go up. Once you reach the peak you will need to place a ridge cap style of tile. Either cut a strip section of the sandpaper to bridge the peak or if tiled take a drinking straw and cut it in half down its length and section it accordingly. To make gutters, downspouts, stove pipes etc. different size drink straws work great. Use small pieces of foil to make the mounting brackets that hold each to the wall, roof etc.

The difficult part is if you want to add an interior that is visible then you really have to add all the extra “guts” of the building that you can’t “hide behind closed doors” so to speak.

The guard tower. Ask at the local hobby shop Italeri makes a kit of one that should work for you.

Hope this helps.
