Polly Scale paints

A few questions for the experts;
Thinking of trying Polly Scale paint. Does it have its own thinner? Don’t see one in Squadron. Is Polly Scale made by Testors? Reason is that in Squadron’s catalog, it has “TS” in the item number as do Testors products. One final question. Is it worth the $3 they get for it?
Thanks,
Steve

I am not sure about thinning but some people I know that uses Polly Scale spray right from the bottle. Yes, it is made by Testors. Testor bought them oout a few years ago. I also am not sure about price. I would go to your LHS and see what they can get it for and then go to the Testors website and see how much to order from them. I would take the cheapest route. I hear they are good paints. Also, Micro Mark sells Polly Scale. I hope this helps.

It’s good paint, but the colors I’ve used are already very, very thin. It says on the bottle that if necessary to thin it 10%-20% using water (mine is acrylic, I am assuming that it all is). I haven’t found it necessary to thin it yet.

I didn’t notice the price on the colors I got. The LHS didn’t have what I needed in anything but PolyScale so I got them. I like it, and have had good results with it.

Yeah dont thin Polly scale, its good to go. $3 seems bit high to me but I am cheap lol

Steve,
Polly Scale is very good. Polly Scale makes a thinner for thier paints it’s
#546008 in an 8oz. bottle . It retails around $6. I use sodium free distilled water
in the gallon jug that usually costs $1 dollar or less. It’s cheap and also works
great for decals and airbrush cleanup immediatly after use.
When I thin Polly Scale paint I start with one SMALL drop 10%of water and
that’s usually enough . I also keep a damp paper towel to clean the airbrush tip .
For me it’s worth every penny .

Another question;
What finish does Poly Scale come in? Flat or satin or gloss?
Fuzzy, Musiccity, Woodbeck3 and Snoopy thanks for the responses.
Steve

Steve; Polly Scale paints are flat finish…I have used Polly Scale paints for years almost exclusively. I use their thinner, about 20-25%. My signature is painted entirely with Polly Scale paints and it’s a show winner, several times over.

Can you mix in their satin or gloss to make a custom finish?
Steve

Thanks Peridexion.
