Every day on my way to work, I get to pass by the old Ball '08 Nasa B-52 at the North Gate of Edwards AFB. I got to thinking about building a scale model of the old lady, and last week I scored a complete 1/72 Mongram kit off Ebay. This was how the B-52 appearing in 2004, and from what I can tell, she more or less still looks the same today.
Now, the Monogram Kit is a B-52D, and the '08 was a B-52B. I hope to do the conversion with the Buff Master Design B-52A/B conversion kit, complete with an X-15, and decal kit for what appears to be the way she looked in the 1960’s.
Does anyone have any experience Buff Master Design Products?
I’ve got this kit in my stash complete with the X-15. I’ve been going to build it for some time, yet haven’t. It is a great NMF project for me to use to showcase my products…one of these days I’ll get to it.
I have never done a natrual metal finish before, so I was going to attempt a 1/48 scale P-38 in NMF before I took on the B-52. I have never shot laquer before, let alone Alclad.
I have a few more pictures of that in my office, including a shot of when they had to break the tail down to get it under some wires. They basicly just moved it to a dirt area north of the gate. Right now we are in the process of re-doing the gate area, and when the project is finished, the NB-52 should have its own viewing area, parking lot, and be placed on proper stands.
